The Heart Behind The Twisted Peel

The Twisted Peel is a female-owned, family-run business proudly based in San Juan Capistrano, California. What started as a simple idea behind the bar has grown into a heartfelt mission — to create something sustainable, beautiful, and meaningful — one garnish at a time.

After more than 18 years behind the bar, I witnessed how much waste our industry produces, especially with fresh fruit being thrown out each week. I wanted to change that. The Twisted Peel was born to cut waste, lower costs, and elevate cocktails through handcrafted, small-batch dehydrated garnishes that bring creativity and consistency to every glass.

This business is truly a family affair. My husband plays a huge role in our daily operations, helping bring our ideas to life and keeping the wheels turning behind the scenes. My father, who was diagnosed with early-onset dementia, finds purpose and joy in helping with the creative process — each batch gives him something to be proud of. My mother, who has been one of our biggest supporters from day one, now proudly represents The Twisted Peel as a company rep — sharing our story, building relationships, and helping spread our mission throughout the community. And our son, who started working in the restaurant industry at 15 and is now 21, has stepped behind the bar himself. He brings fresh energy to The Twisted Peel, creating cocktail pairings, designing social media content, and helping us connect with the next generation of cocktail lovers.

Every garnish we craft is unique, small-batch, and one-of-a-kind — made with care, purpose, and a whole lot of heart. Our family’s hands touch every stage, from slicing and soaking to packaging and presentation.
